Wheelers Words – Beware of HMRC scam calls and stay vigilant

We want to make our customers aware of a rise in scam calls from individuals pretending to be from HMRC. These fraudsters often attempt to pressure people into providing personal or financial information, claiming they owe tax or are due a refund.

To protect yourself, always verify whether a call is genuine by checking HMRC’s updated list of official phone contacts on their website.

You can access this list via the following link:

Staying vigilant is key to avoiding fraud
If you receive a call and have any doubts about its authenticity, do not provide any confidential information. Instead, hang up and call HMRC directly on 0300 200 3700. Their advisors will confirm whether the call you received was genuine.

Do not hesitate to reach out to your usual contact at Wheelers if you have any concerns or need further advice. We are here to help!
