Wheelers Words: Final claims for the Statutory Sick Pay Rebate Scheme

We would like to remind you that the Statutory Sick Pay Rebate Scheme that the government has provided, will close on 17‌‌‌ March‌‌‌ 2022.

You have until 24‌‌‌ March‌‌‌ 2022 to submit any new claims for absence periods from 21 December 2021 up to 17‌‌‌ ‌March‌‌‌ ‌2022, or to amend any claims you have already submitted.

This is particularly important to note if you process a monthly payroll or pay your employees’ a week in hand, as after 24 March 2022, you will no longer be able to claim back Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) for any employees’ coronavirus-related absences or self-isolation that occur after 17‌‌‌ ‌March‌‌‌ ‌2022.

From 25‌‌‌ ‌March, we return to the normal SSP rules, which means that you (The Employer) can revert to paying SSP from the fourth qualifying day that your employee is off work regardless of the reason for their sickness absence.

Please make sure that you do not miss out on the opportunity to claim any COVID related SSP.  If we process your payroll for you, it is imperative that you give us any sickness information prior to your usual payroll run.
